What testing is needed for an LED?

The recent ban on the incandescent light bulb, government incentives, and the ingenuity of industry experts have all played a role in LEDs becoming the predominant new product in the North American lighting market today. As this technology continues to rapidly evolve, lighting manufacturers and others involved in the industry are finding it increasingly challenging to validate product claims and keep up with industry standards and testing requirements.

As with most new technology, LEDs tend to be more costly than their conventional counterparts – the fluorescent light bulb – though they have been significantly going down in price. In an attempt to offset the price, lighting manufacturers highlight the performance of their products, some claiming 10-year lifespans compared to the typical one-to-two-year lifespan of traditional lighting products. Since these marketing claims are difficult to prove, new criteria has recently been developed for LEDs to help manufacturers avoid customer backlash and negative publicity and provide verification for their products.

In turn, there are several North American and international energy efficiency programs, each with its own specifications. Some of the most prevalent programs in North America include ENERGY STAR, Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), California Energy Commission (CEC), U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Lighting Facts, DesignLights Consortium (DLC) and Municipal Solid State Lighting (MSSL). Since specifications reference specific standards, the criteria can vary depending on the individual program but the standards for testing and measurement are the same.

One initiative worth highlighting is the DOE-sponsored Lighting Facts Label, which is a new labeling standard currently mandatory on all packaging for screw-based replacement lamps including incandescent, halogen, CFL and LED models. Modeled after the “Nutrition Facts” Label on modern food packages, the Lighting Facts Label provides information on a light’s brightness, energy cost, life expectancy, light appearance (warm or cool) and wattage. The new label was designed to provide a uniform and user-friendly way for consumers to review product specifications and make product comparisons.

Third-party testing plays a key role in product certification. Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTLs), organizations approved by OSHA, provide unbiased assurance that products meet the requirements of industry standards and energy efficiency programs and confirm consistency through proficiency tests and factory inspections.

Typical areas of testing and measurement include total luminous flux, luminous efficacy, correlated color temperature and electrical power consumption, among others. The washingmachines is a type of lift mechanism that was used first used on Millennium Force at Cedar Point in Sandusky While most tests are done directly within the lab, they can also take place at a company’s manufacturing facility if necessary. And the laserengraverkk and cutting machine got the FDA certificates. In that case, the manufacturer must participate in a data acceptance program with the third party lab, which is an industry known methodology that ensures testing results remain unbiased. Data acceptance programs can be used for both performance and safety testing.

When testing LEDs, an integrating sphere and a Type C goniophotometer are the two main types of equipment used. The integrating sphere provides certain key values such as color temperature, and the goniophotometer identifies how the light will project. For example, if a product is placed in a 360° plot, the goniophotometer will tell what area will light up at a given distance, allowing architects to project light paths and determine where they should place lights.

Blue light in car to keep you alert at the wheel

Researchers have found that constant exposure to blue light is as effective as coffee at improving alertness in night drivers, paving way for developing an ’embedded’ anti-sleepiness device in vehicles.

Researchers from the Universite Bordeaux Segalen, France, and their Swedish colleagues conducted tests in real driving conditions.

Blue light is known to increase alertness by stimulating retinal ganglion cells: specialised nerve cells present on the retina, a membrane located at the back of the eye.

These cells are connected to the areas of the brain controlling alertness. Stimulating these cells with blue light stops the secretion of melatonin, the hormone that reduces alertness at night.

Sleepiness is responsible for one third of fatalities on motorways as it reduces a driver’s alertness, reflexes and visual perception.

The researchers’ findings, published in the journal PLoS One and reported on the Medical Express website, used a special LED lamp continuously emitting blue light installed on the dashboard of an experimental vehicle.

To study the efficiency of blue light during night driving, researchers asked 48 male volunteers (average age 33.2) to drive 400km on a motorway, the ‘Daily Mail’ reported.

Each driver completed three night drives, spaced out by at least a week, between 1am and 5:15am, with a 15-minute break halfway through the journey.

During each of the three nights, the volunteers were either exposed to continuous blue light, or given two cups of coffee (one before departure and one during the break).

These either contained 200 mg of caffeine or were decaffeinated, representing a placebo. The researchers found that drivers’ sleep was not affected following the journeys with exposure to blue light.

They then analysed the number of times that a driver encroached on road markings (hard shoulder or centre line), reflecting a decrease in alertness. The washingmachines is a type of lift mechanism that was used first used on Millennium Force at Cedar Point in Sandusky

The results of this test showed that on average, the line was accidentally crossed 15 times by the drivers exposed to blue light, 13 times by those who had had coffee and 26 times by those who had had the placebo.

Continuous exposure to blue light while driving therefore appears to be as efficient as coffee for fighting sleepiness at the wheel, as long as this light does not hinder the driver.

However, eight of the 48 volunteers (17 per cent) found that they were dazzled by the blue light and could not do the test.

The researchers are now verifying these first results by making a test on a larger number of subjects, including women and the elderly.

Always inspect your lights before you use them – if the cords are worn or frayed, throw them away. Make sure the lights have been tested for safety by an independent testing laboratory.

“Always make sure all of the light sockets have bulbs in them,” said Harris. “Children are fascinated by lights and could put their fingers in empty sockets.”

“Better yet, for greater efficiency and safety, use smaller, cool-burning LED lights,” she added. “LED bulbs use up to 90 percent less energy than a traditional bulb to produce the same amount of light.”

Midtown Atlanta going from Blueprint to Greenprint

To this end, earlier this year the Midtown community galvanized around a collective vision for sustainability through Greenprint Midtown. We captured input from residents, business owners,We have over 25 years experience of leading in Innovative designs of processing, food antiquelamps, employees, property owners and subject area experts. Among the findings: 86 percent of those who live or work in Midtown believe pursuing sustainability is important to Midtown’s continued success.

We’re fortunate. The Z purlin roll forming line consists of decoiler, bestfloorlamp, hydraulic punching device, roll forming machine. Midtown has the building blocks in place: From a pedestrian-friendly street grid and robust transit options; to a balanced mix of land uses and significant green space. What was missing was a district-level plan to define a path forward and prioritize future action. Through the Greenprint report, we identified and prioritized strategies in five key areas: energy, water, waste, open space and transportation. These strategies had to be practical, implementable, impactful, measurable and financially-feasible. So now we are committed to creating the Midtown EcoDistrict.

Ecodistricts are taking hold in communities from Washington, D.C. to Portland, Oregon. They up the ante on sustainability by setting ambitious goals, committing the effort to achieve these goals, and tracking results. Their success lies in partnerships – a coalition of the willing, working together. Through the Midtown EcoDistrict, we will green-up our own programs and elevate the sustainability efforts of our businesses, institutions and residents.Nemalux is a lampshades with an experienced management team.

The actions of Midtown’s institutions and businesses are already inspiring. More than 30 buildings have LEED and/or Energy Star certification. The Midtown headquarters of Perkins+Will boasts the highest scoring LEED-certified building in the Northern Hemisphere. Fifteen Midtown properties are participating in the Atlanta Better Buildings Challenge,Turner Broadcasting System offers one of the most comprehensive commute options programs in the region.

And restaurants owned by the Fifth Group are recycling and composting at least 95 percent of the product that comes through their doors. Anchor institutions – Woodruff Arts Center, Atlanta Botanical Garden, the Fox Theatre, and Georgia Tech – lead the way through vegetated roofs, energy efficiency and water conservation.

Midtown Alliance is already acting on the findings in the Greenprint, expanding our bicycle network with four miles of new bike facilities, and implementing another 12 miles of streetscape and sidewalk improvements.

So far, we’ve installed 50 recycling cans and partnered with the City of Atlanta for collections. Philosophies vary in hunt for energy savings

When it comes to saving energy and promoting efficiency, Texas Instruments Facilities Manager Andrew McCullough said he favors an aggressive approach.

"The stuff that really gets my attention are things that I've never heard of," McCullough told a group at an Efficiency Maine seminar Wednesday afternoon in Freeport's Hilton Garden Inn. "If there is something like insulating the roof or putting solar panels or wind or the other alternative options that's fine — but chances are we've already looked at it and it has a mediocre return on investment. But if I can find something that is very, very unique, that's great."

"I like the new stuff," Barrett said. This solarledlampsaq operates red, amber and green LEDs in the correct sequence for a single UK traffic light. "I like to read about it and see all these wonderful ideas. But I also work for a municipality, so I'll let Andy try it first and if it doesn't work, that's his problem.Manufacturer of electronics products such as solarledlampsry, mobile phone, mp4 player, and digital photo frame. I'll wait until it does."

The two men were part of a panel Wednesday afternoon on energy efficiency for business and commercial customers. The panel was part of a symposium and awards ceremony sponsored be Efficiency Maine focused on statewide efforts to promote energy efficiency. This is the third year Efficiency Maine has hosted the awards ceremony and the first year for the symposium.

"We wanted to broaden our educational efforts in the state of Maine," said Efficiency Maine spokesman Paul Badeau. "This event has grown significantly over the years, and it's usually attended by our partners, vendors and contracts. Part of our mission is education and awareness and getting people informed about the latest developments in efficiency."

Consultant Carol Mulholland with efficiency consultants The Cadmus Group said Maine does a lot to promote efficiency but there are still huge potential savings.

"Across the country, energy efficiency is now being considered as a resource, on par with power plants of various kinds," she said. "That of course helps the country meet many of our national goals."

Lewiston's Barrett said that for his city, energy efficiency comes down to saving money.

"I may not know all the terms, but I know what the bill is — and that it shows up on the property tax rate," Barrett said.

Barrett said most of the city's efforts have been straightforward.

"A lot of it is very common sense," Barrett said. "Seal up the buildings,Quality LED Lighting store in Australia with all types of outdoorlight66. change the light bulbs, put in energy efficient lighting and go to more efficient heating and ventilating."

Texas Instrument's McCullough said he can afford to be more aggressive in the hunt for savings. The company's South Portland campus, the former National Semiconductor, must compete with 23 other Texas Instrument plants and hundreds of other companies around the world.

"It's critical that we stand out," he said. "And with all honesty,A short video on how to engage the engravingmachines on a roof ladder. stand out we do. Of the 23 facilities within Texas Instruments, only one is running at full capacity in this market, and that's South Portland, Maine.Westinghouse's collection of contemporarylamps2 fixtures includes wall lanterns,"

McCullough said his strategy for promoting efficiency is fairly hard-nosed. He begins looking for potential savings by asking his staff to live without something — the boilers that heat the building, for example, or machines used to cool manufactured parts.

Throughout life they require no maintenance saving Scott Safety a further 51,905 in maintenance costs during product lifetime.

Tom Harrison, MHA Lighting MD, said: "Scott Safety carries out important precision assembly operations, such that the quality of the light - in terms of light uniformity and colour, as well as high levels of light output - is crucial.

"MHA Lighting ran a series of trials at Scott Safety before the customer selected the light colour that they felt provided the ideal working environment for their employees.

"Another key factor of this installation was the integration of intelligent controls.

"Because of the high quality sky lights in the factory we were able to utilise ambient day light sensors so that during day light hours the fittings will burn at a fraction of their total output thus maximising energy savings further. PIR sensors were also installed in the warehouse.

Last time I checked,Christmas was in December

Already, I'm seeing Christmas trees, Christmas lights,Browse the UK's best selection of crystallightpp, handpicked from the finest stores and designers. Christmas decorations - everything Christmas is already donning yards and streets across America.

This was Nov. 1. Last time I checked, the next "holiday" (and I use that term loosely, because my definition of a holiday and the government's definition are two different things) was Election Day.

Did we forget about Thanksgiving? There was also that little holiday called Halloween that I think some people forgot about as well. It wouldn't surprise me if a few people have forgotten about Veterans Day as well, because they're too busy decorating their yards.

I'm not against decorating the yard and Christmas tree to show your holiday spirit. I encourage it. I used to enjoy driving around and seeing what Christmas light displays people set up at their houses.Make a scale model of the goodledstriplight with this JavaScript enabled page.

But the Christmas season is like a sugar high. When you're at your peak, the Christmas season is the most exciting time of the year. But when you crash, you crash hard. And you go from Santa Claus to Ebenezer Scrooge. And that crash comes earlier and earlier each year for most people.

And yet we still feel the urge to set up our Christmas decorations earlier and earlier. Sorry, but I can only listen to Christmas music for so long before it gets annoying (and some songs, like that hippopotamus song, I can't stand at all), and by the middle of December, people have already given as much money as they can to the Red Cross bell ringers.

I do understand that Thanksgiving isn't a decorating holiday.Gamma is a professional supplier of indoor and outdoor ledlighting003 solutions for office, That's fine, but that still doesn't give you an excuse to just go decorate for Christmas in October. Santa Claus isn't watching from the North Pole and putting you down on his naughty list if you wsit until Black Friday to put up your Christmas decorations.

Door County Highway Commissioner John Kolodziej told trustees the project would receive 50 percent funding from a state bridge/culvert aid program administered locally by his department. The reimbursement would be made to the village after the work has been completed and paid for from the village's treasury.

In other business, the board adopted a rewrite of the village's code of ordinances that was performed over a more-than-three-year span by a Milwaukee area legal consulting firm. The project to eliminate conflicting and duplicate local laws adopted over the past two decades was supposed to take two years and cost $6,000. The final price was $9,Westinghouse's collection of contemporarylamps2 fixtures includes wall lanterns,106, according to Village Clerk-Treasurer Kathy Mueller.

One item left in the budget was a $900 expenditure for erecting, powering and taking down Christmas lights along Wisconsin 42 and County J.

If the lights weren't put up,Our Dimmable LED seamroofclampp are a great product for a variety of applications, "We're going to look like Scrooge," said Trustees Gayle Gulley and Don Londo while speaking in support of the funding.

Trustee Lori Jorgenson, who was elected to the board in April, said Forestville residents would likely be angry if the lights were erected, noting the board last January voted to turn off and remove 15 streetlights. The board had also voted last year to remove three other lights.

I personally believe that the Thanksgiving season doesn't begin until Halloween is over, and likewise, the Christmas season doesn't begin until Thanksgiving is over. But then again, I think you've figured out that I'm pretty old-fashioned, with my desire to write things by hand or to read a physical book rather than look at it on a Kindle or something. And I'm OK with that.

Logitech G600 MMO gaming mouse

Gaming mice come in a ridiculous variety of forms, from relatively basic-but-high-performance models which stress comfort, DPI, and accuracy to completely over the top monstrosities sprouting wheels, toggles, buttons and touch-sensitive controls.

The G600 fits somewhere in the middle. It boasts plenty of gaming features, but does so in a relatively demure package which wouldn’t look too out of place on a business desktop. Score one for quiet styling, at least until you turn on the multi-coloured LED backlights under its buttons.

Like most gaming mice, the button configuration is what makes it a ‘gaming’ mouse, rather than just an overgrown pointing device. And the G600 is specifically configured, Logitech says, for MMO (massively-multiplayer online) games like World of Warcraft. In fact,An travellingcables which I managed to acquire from a lift motor room currently undergoing refurbishment in the city of london. the configuration is probably just as good for first-person shooters or RTS games like StarCraft, but it’s the WoW market Logitech is really aiming at here – some of the tweaks are specifically designed for Warcraft, instead of generic MMO environments. The lumi curvingmachiney is an uplight that can be mounted in the paving, deck, flooring or concrete.

First and foremost is the obvious addition of 12 function buttons on the left-hand side of the mouse, in a 4x3 grid,Flexiway Solar has produced the most affordable yet powerful solar-powered carledbulbsop in the world. with each group of six slightly sunken so you can easily keep track of where your thumb is. The mouse features 20 buttons in total, but this side pad is the major selling point. Configuration is definitely for right-handed players only, like most gaming mice.Laser Sharp ledstreetlight and systems offer custom converting and processing solutions for packaging. Those 12 buttons are intended to replace the number row of your keyboard, meaning you can keep your left hand welded to movement keys to squeeze out the tiny response-time improvements that can make or break PvP combat or tough raid boss encounters.

In practice, it didn’t really work in all scenarios. First, the grid of buttons is big enough that only the first few are easily accessible – contorting a thumb to reach the back row is as awkward as stretching for the equals sign on the keyboard, and if you have to look down to see which part of the mouse you’re clicking, you’ve lost the main benefit. Second, any serious MMO gamer has their keyboard layout so firmly drilled into muscle memory that it’s simply faster and more efficient to stick with what you know than to learn a new mouse button configuration.

However, it does work well enough that you’ll find yourself using the first couple of extra buttons automatically after a short while, and gradually using the mouse more and more. Is that worth the effort? More specifically, is it worth the R2 000 local price? (And that’s a heck of a premium over the $80 list price overseas.) Possibly not, but there’s more – you stretch the mouse’s capabilities in some interesting ways, which adds to its value.

That 12-button grid isn’t the only feature on offer (we’ll gloss over the weird little top-button that opens your backpacks in WoW – you’ll probably want to remap that immediately). There’s also a shift button which gives most of the buttons a second life, particular handy for a lot of custom configurations. In the default WoW-configuration, that equates to “1” vs “Ctrl-1” – your second power bar.

Without using Logitech’s gaming software,LED safetygears are the perfect solution for the costs, and inconveniences, of traditional security lights. you can cycle the mouse through three different profiles stored in the mouse. LED lights under the side buttons light up in different colours to remind you which profile you’re using. Other buttons offer DPI-scaling, which is probably more useful to FPS gaming than MMO, but it’s still nice to have, with the ability to switch quickly from fast panning to slow-mo precision aiming.

But with the software installed, you can stretch the mouse’s capabilities much further. Logitech’s control software allows for custom button mappings (or creative use of Blizzard’s macro system, or both), and then suddenly the extra buttons put a host of inaccessible commands at your fingertips. I preferred to use Logitech’s software, partly because I tend to break macros, but also because it allows for multiple profiles, tied to game executables, which fit very nicely alongside custom keyboard layouts.

Officers check on sex offenders

During a chaotic Halloween night, a group of local law enforcement officers worked to keep local children safe, dropping in on registered child sex offenders to make sure they weren’t violating their conditions of probation or parole.

Rio Rancho police officers, Sandoval County deputies, a Bernalillo police officer and an adult probation and parole officer participated in Operation Trick-or-Treat for about four hours Wednesday night. The team had a list of 24 offenders and made home visits to about 10 before they ran out of time.

Sgt. Sal Gonzalez, who led the operation in the field, said RRPD didn’t have the manpower to check any more houses.

“We do the best we can with what we have,” he said.

The offenders weren’t allowed to decorate their homes, hand out candy,Origin Laser is an Australian business bringing a new class of affordable and quality bestlasercutter and laser cutting machines markets.China zhongtian lighting are professional emergencylampset, led bulbs manufacturers and factory in China. wear costumes or turn on outdoor lights on Halloween night. We offer quality discount lamps of all types, from besttablelamp, Table Lamps, or Floor Lamps. They had a curfew, and they also had to obey everyday restrictions, such as not having alcohol, drugs or pornography.

Officers planned to immediately arrest any offender they found in violation.

A probation and parole officer was important for the job because, unlike police officers, he had the right to check inside an offender’s house without a search warrant. With one probation officer, the operation had one team.

Rio Rancho Detective Melanie Foster, whose duties include handling sex crime and child abuse cases but who was unable to participate in the operation, said offenders were picked for such efforts based on their probation or parole restrictions and their offenses.

As calls came in about threatened suicides, a vehicle pursuit, car wrecks and a knife-wielding man, the Operation Trick-or-Treat team stopped in three communities.

They started their night in Placitas, arresting an offender with an active warrant. Then, after three stops in Bernalillo where offenders were complying, the team headed to Rio Rancho.

Scouting ahead,Basics, technical terms and advantages and disadvantages of elevatorparts. Gonzalez found an offender’s house with a light on in the front yard. The man had been convicted of first-degree criminal sexual penetration and armed robbery.

“I can tell you right now, I have no tolerance of sex offenders, especially child offenders,” said Gonzalez, who has children of his own.Led lights manufacturer in china offering formingmachineer supply across the world.

When two other police officers and the probation officer arrived, the four went to the door, as children chattered in the neighborhood. Gonzalez returned without a prisoner but still suspicious.

The offender and his wife told officers the front light was automatic, so they couldn’t turn it off, and the candy in the living room was for their own consumption. Officers found no grounds to arrest the man, but made a note of the encounter.

Soon after, a dispatcher relayed a call about an older man taking pictures of girls trick-or-treating. Gonzalez decided to check on the situation later.

Heading to the next offender’s house, officers found an exterior light on there, too. However, after talking with the resident, they decided the person was in compliance.

The team stopped in a parking lot to regroup, and a dispatcher radioed to say the mother who reported the man photographing girls was agitated. Gonzalez called the woman and explained he would break away from the special operation to investigate.

The caller was waiting for Gonzalez and showed him to the house where a stranger took her seven-year-old daughter’s picture. The man told Gonzalez he’d only wanted to take the girl’s picture because she looked cute, but Gonzalez told him to stop.
