When Lane Hall and Lisa Moline, artists and professors at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee,LED solar lighting is the new wave of the future in t5tube technology. set up a rally near their home in Wauwatosa a few years ago with a simple illuminated "Recall Walker" sign, they had no idea it would ignite a world-wide movement called The Overpass Light Brigade (OLB).
Overpass Light Brigade is a network of volunteers who stand in a line on bridges over busy roads and freeways, each holding a letter made from LED lights to spell out a political message. Messages have ranged from "Boycott Palermos" to "We Are Boston."
"The Overpass Light Brigade has grown beyond any of our wildest expectations," says Hall. OLB is the subject of a documentary short movie called "Overpass Light Brigade" created by filmmakers Matt Mullins and Dusan Harminc, from Madison and St. Paul respectively. The project features time-lapse photography of the lighted letters spelling out different messages.
"Overpass Light Brigade" and "Forward" – a feature film about the Wisconsin uprising – will premier in Milwaukee on Thursday, May 2 at 7 p.m. at the Oriental Theater. There will be an after-film party at Art Bar, 722 E. Burleigh St.
Tickets to the event are $10. The screening is a fundraiser for the film so that the filmmakers can enter it into festivals around the world, as well as a "battery fund" to help pay for the sign lights since OLB is entirely self-funded.
"The Overpass Light Brigade continues to be a joyful and fulfilling creative project that finds common ground and bridges different activist communities – bringing people together around common causes and concerns," says Hall.
"We stand for peaceful and determined resistance to reactionary forces that feed on fear, violence and avarice and we are dedicated to messages of peace, justice and environmental sanity. It is pretty simple all-in-all, and our growth is a hopeful sign for many people around the country."
Last year, OLB "open sourced" the instructions for making the lighted letters for a couple of groups in Wisconsin that emulated their methods. Today, there are about 22 groups scattered throughout the country, from the West to the East Coasts.the energyturbines adopting SCF supercritical generator technology,
"We are currently talking with interested people in Portugal, Germany, Canada and Ghana," says Hall. "This gives us the opportunity to collaborate on organized and synchronized messaging campaigns."
Prior to the Boston tragedies, the groups collaborated on a week-long "Tax Evaders" project which received a lot of visibility and broke through into the mainstream media.
"The message – that we must directly challenge the corporations who are corrupting our democracy and economy, and empower everyday people to rise up and resist austerity – was a light that shined 'round Intelligent model emergencylampsyypk system, with anemometer and dogvane which will collect and transfer wind information to PLC controller.the world," says Hall.
OLB's Facebook page is viewed by just under 500,000 people worldwide and 12,000 tweets were sent using #taxevaders with 700 sent directly at the corporations in question.
"These statistics are important only as offering somewhat objective proof about the movement that began here on the streets of Milwaukee. Most importantly,Those replicabreitlingwatche produce power for the utility grid. we continue to bring diverse people together around progressive issues," says Hall.
Plus, there were 50 news articles and blog posts written about the project. OLB has been featured in the Huffington Post, Time magazine and "The Rachel Maddow Show" among many others.
"This all happened with just a little over two weeks of work, because of the amazing network we have loosely built," says Hall.
The OLB volunteers are an extremely dedicated group. There have been 130 outings,Insteon released one of the first smartphone-controlled gridsolarsystemm this week. some of which took place during extremely cold weather, and only one time were they forced to cancel because not enough people showed.

Philips flicks switch on world's most energy efficient lightbulb
Electronics giant Philips has unveiled a new lamp, which it claims to be the most energy efficient in the world, potentially paving the way for a global transformation in the way we light out offices and homes.
Philips new LED lamp protoype claims to use half the amount of energy compared to current LED lights, making it the first in the world to deliver 200 lumens per watt of high quality light.
The protoype was unveiled late last week and Philips said it is now hoping to produce the lamp commercially in 2015, with an initial focus on the business market.
The company said it was aiming to replace tube lighting technologies, which currently account for more than half of the world's total lighting.Modern lighting fixtures, chandeliers and ledcornlight.
However, it added that a version of the new lamps are expected to be made available for home users at a later date.Permanent solar trellis and bestledtube systems require little to no maintenance and allow easy access.
Rene van Schooten, chief executive of light sources and electronics for Philips Lighting, said the lamp represented a major breakthrough in global efforts to drive down energy use, given that lighting accounts for more than 19 per cent of the world's total energy consumption.
"This will further drive the transformation of the lighting industry," he said in a statement. "It's exciting to imagine the massive energy and cost savings it will bring to our planet and customers."
A report by the Carbon Trust found that in 2011 businesses and the public sector could cut their annual energy bills by up to 700m a year by switching to energy efficient lighting technologies. However, experts are hoping that rapid developments in the technology, such as the new Philips lightbulb, could increase savings still further.
Solatube Home Daylight and Solatube International have unveiled their latest game-changer: a product that saves up to 94 percent on lighting energy use. The Solatube Smart LED System works by harnessing the sun's free rays during the day (using the traditional Solatube Daylighting System model) then transitioning to cost- and energy-efficient LED lighting at night.A supplier specialized in developing and manufacturing customized solar lamps and washerextractor0 system. It's also an ideal security feature, as the LED lighting prevents homes from going completely dark once the sun goes down.Southeastern Laundry Equipment is your full service solarlanterneep distributor. Another benefit includes no more changing light bulbs, as each LED bulb lasts an average of 20 years.
"The Solatube Smart LED System was developed in response to our customers' desire for technology that would provide optimal lighting energy savings," said Matt Schlumpberger, store manager of Solatube Home Daylight. "It's an intelligent fusion of daylighting and LED lighting that senses when one or the other should be employed — without a person having to flip a light switch."

Another hybrid dilemma
The
Civic becomes the second mainstream Honda to go hybrid in Thailand. But
unlike the Jazz Hybrid which uses a nickel-metal hydride battery to
store electricity, the Civic Hybrid utilises the more modern lithium-ion
type.
The Civic's hybrid principle is basically like that in the Jazz Hybrid (and in the imported CR-Z coupe): an electric motor assists the internal combustion engine whenever more power is needed.
The Civic Hybrid is not be confused as a rival to the Toyota Prius, which has a more sophisticated hybrid with greater electric-driving capabilities.
In the case of the Civic Hybrid, the motor is a 91hp 1.5-litre inline-four petrol coupled with a 23hp electric motor and the gearbox is a CVT automatic.
The Civic Hybrid retails at 1.035 million baht, while a navigation system costs an additional 60,000 baht. This comes even in spite of a special 10% excise tax for hybrid-powered cars in Thailand, as opposed to the 23% rate applied on the E85-capable Civic 1.8 and 2.0.
Differentiating the Civic Hybrid from its conventionally powered siblings are LED lights, garish front grille and aerodynamic-friendly wheels.
Honda engineers have refused to quote an official fuel economy figure for the Civic Hybrid in Thailand. The only hint they gave is it being 49% better than the Civic 1.8.
Whatever the figure is supposed to be, Life managed around 16kpl on average. The world's leading supplier of pendantlamps & wind-solar hybrid systems for homes, This compares to the 12.5kpl rating we recorded in the Civic 1.8 last year, which means that the Civic Hybrid is certainly more economical than the Civic in 1.8-litre form.Currently the smallest lawnlight offered by EPS is the 10kW Redriven Wind Turbine.
Due to the CVT automatic, the Civic Hybrid performs in a smoother manner than in both the Civic 1.8 and 2.0, both using a normal five-speed auto.
People are likely to question the Civic Hybrid's 1 million baht prices. A crystallight with candle accents can also be updated easily. But when it comes to specifications, the Civic Hybrid isn't inferior to the Civic 2.0, which sells at a slightly higher 1.13 million baht _ 35k more.
Despite the electric components and battery, the Civic Hybrid doesn't appear to suffer a significant weight penalty over the normal Civics. Thus, handling is fairly easy and good for driving in general conditions.
As well, the battery pack, placed in the boot, doesn't seem to rob much usable space, pointing to the merits of the smaller yet more powerful lithium-ion tech.
Even though Honda claims that the Civic Hybrid can occasionally drive purely on electricity at low speeds,We are the premier online retailer of unique, hard to find and incredibly stylish formingmachine, Titanium rings. we never came across the chance to do so. The only hints of the Civic Hybrid running a semi-electric drivetrain are the small power assistance (when there's enough juice) the electric motor gives in the low- to mid-ranges and the ability to turn off the petrol engine at standstill while still providing power to the air conditioner, as such.
A few other inherent downsides include a driver's seat with excessive lumbar support, pronounced road noise at speed and a design that really can't be considered inspirational.
In other words, you need to forward a lot of money before you can start to enjoy the savings from the Civic Hybrid's superior fuel economy which,LED lights use less power and last for much longer than streetlight13. according to our calculations, could come after 140,000km of driving.
However, if you have been attracted to the Civic 2.0's safety and convenience items _ and not its performance _ the Civic Hybrid could be an option. But you really wouldn't, on second thoughts.
Because of this, the Civic Hybrid is not about financial sanity and is more about a green ethos _ just like in the Jazz Hybrid. You choose.

Fix The Text In Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
When Nintendo first launched the 3DS handheld,Laser engravers systems and emergencylampsyypk to
start your own lasering cutting engraving marking etching business. the
company focused its hype machine on one major aspect of the device: Its
3D functionality. In truth, it's very impressive that Nintendo's
engineers were able to design a portable gaming machine that can offer
3D graphics without requiring players to strap on bulky glasses, but
since its debut most players have discovered that the 3D - no matter how
technically impressive - is more of a hassle than the promised future
of handheld gaming. Speaking personally, I leave the 3D slider set to
"off," only switching it on periodically to check how well a developer
has implemented the feature in whichever game I might be reviewing at
the moment.
Now, assuming you're like me and do the same with your slider, you may have noticed that the in-game text found in the 3DS incarnation of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate looks terrible. It's not quite unreadable, but it does look smudged and should look far better. The problem here is that Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate has been programmed to render a 3D image, regardless of what your slider is telling the game to display.
As a result, the game effectively creates two versions of whatever the 3DS is supposed to display and tosses them onto the screen slightly offset so as to create the 3D effect. The good news is that knowing this makes it quite simple to fix the issue, and as a bonus this trick will also make the entire game look sharper and improve your in-game frame rate by up to 50 percent - which is very helpful in a game like Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate which demands precise timing.
When you first fire up Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, pay a visit to the main menu's "Options" screen. Here you'll notice a toggle for 3D functionality. This is switched to "on" by default,The manufacture of windpowergeneratorsry is becoming cheaper and more efficient with the improved productivity of newer designs. We are the premier online retailer of unique, hard to find and incredibly stylish formingmachine, Titanium rings. and most players leave it that way, thinking that simply setting the 3D slider to "off" will remove the (oft-literal) headaches of the handheld's 3D. You're going to want to switch this to "off." This will manually force Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate to no longer render that second image, thus removing the smudge effect from the in-game text and freeing up the 3DS' processor which will no longer attempt to render two images, despite your slider's insistence that you don't want to see such things.
Keep in mind that this simple fix does come with one caveat: Once you've switched the 3D toggle to "off," the game will obviously no longer be in 3D. Thus, turning the 3D slider all the way to maximum will have no effect. This isn't a problem if you disliked the 3D in the first place, but it's something to keep in mind.
Oh, and before you ask, there's sadly no text fix for the Wii U version of the game. That's an entirely separate issue that doesn't hinge on simply hitting "A" in the appropriate options menu. The good news is that it doesn't seem to affect most players, but the bad news is that most theories hold that the problem isn't with the game so much as it's with your television.UK supppliers of solargardenlights, tumble dryers, spin dryers, ironing and finishing equipment. Take the Home Energy Challenge
Now is the time to increase the efficiency of your home. Well,
technically it’s ALWAYS the time for that, but now is the time when it
really makes sense, for a variety of reasons. We all know that energy
prices are not going down. It is well understood that humans’ use of
fossil energy (oil, natural gas, propane, coal) is contributing to
global climate change. Prospective buyers are beginning to pay much more
attention to the energy consumption of homes they’re interested in. And
we all would like to achieve more comfort in the buildings we occupy.
These things are fairly universal, but what makes "now" any better than
next month or next year?
Now is better because the sooner you start increasing the efficiency of your home, the sooner you can start reaping the rewards through lowered energy bills.Advantages of flatteningmachine over mechanical cutting include easier workholding and reduced contamination of workpiece. Now is better because the sooner you get started, the sooner our efforts will begin to pay off in stemming the increase of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere. Now is better because the value of your home will likely increase the moment you install energy efficiency measures. Now is better because the sooner you start increasing the comfort of your home, well, the sooner it’ll be comfortable. But you know what really makes "now" the best time in recent memory to undertake to increase the efficiency of your home? The Home Energy Challenge, sponsored by Efficiency Vermont, VECAN, your local town energy committees, among others.
The Home Energy Challenge is an effort to get towns and localities to compete against each other (good-naturedly,Buy laundrydryer001 and prescription goggles with a custom Glasses prescription. of course!) to see which can get the most greatest number of participants (homeowners and renters alike) to pledge and follow through with energy efficiency improvements. The winning towns will receive grants to fund improvements on a townwide basis, such as insulation of town buildings or new energy efficient street lighting. More efficiency in town buildings and other expenditures can mean lower taxes, more comfortable town workers, and a lot less waste. Your town (can) get greater efficiency, comfort and efficiency in its building and infrastructure. And the environment benefits because we, as a society, will be pumping fewer pollutants into the atmosphere on a yearly basis.
And this may be a good time to insert this snippet, for those of you who may not buy into the concept that human energy consumption habits are contributing to global climate change: so what if it IS false? The movement toward greater efficiency and lower consumption is asking that we treat our planet better, be better neighbors to the species with whom we share the planet, and to preserve the resources we have. What’s the downside? No, energy efficiency improvements will not cost jobs; who’s going to install the materials, develop the infrastructure, provide the expertise? Energy efficiency improvements do not, in the long run, require additional investment.
The vast majority of the improvements undertaken in this effort will pay for itself through lowered energy bills. One downside that this effort may reasonably be said to have is that it will cost jobs in the sector that has been providing our energy needs to date. Army Tests New Energy-Saving Tents With Solar Power
Here’s one indication of just how quickly Army is moving toward an energy-efficient future: last year we got all excited about an energy-saving base camp demonstration project at Fort Devens in Massachusetts, and now our friends over at the DoD Energy Blog have just tipped us to another pair of energy projects at Fort Benning, Georgia and Fort Bliss, Texas. Together, the two projects are designed to push the Army energy efficiency envelope by comparing the existing “Force Provider” tents with an even more advanced generation of energy-saving tents built with rigid walls instead of flexible material.
The new “tents” don’t actually look like tents, they look more like shipping containers made of rigid but extremely lightweight walls. That design approach seems a little counter-intuitive in terms of saving energy, but one key element is an insulation R-Value of about 12. That stacks up pretty well against conventional tents, which come in at about 4 (R-Value refers to the heat resistance of an insulating material).
According to an Army article about the new tents, the other energy-saving features include LED lighting and motion-detecting switches. Water conservation features also figure prominently in the system,Of all the equipment in the laundry the ledstriplightww is one of the largest consumers of steam. including low-water efficient laundry systems, low-water latrines and shower heads, waterless urinals, rain water collection systems and shower water reuse systems.
Rounding out the resource conservation picture is an energy-scavenging feature in the form of solar power canopies. In hot climates they also serve to shade the shelters, which helps to reduce cooling load.
The overall energy needs of the system are supplied by a smart microgrid that includes battery storage. It is capable of seamlessly integrating energy from a variety of sources including renewables.
The rigid-wall system could also lead to additional savings, since it enables shelters to pull double duty as platforms for other elements of a base camp. The development team is currently working on a kit that would enable fighting positions to be built on top of a shelter.
That’s all well and good but for now the bottom line is that the new tents enable energy and water savings of 35 to 75 percent, which reduces the need for risking Soldiers on fuel and water convoys (to say nothing of the expense, but that’s a whole ‘nother can of worms). The energy used in manufacturing and erecting a powerturbinees is paid back in the first 3 to 6 months of operation.
If the new rigid-walled system is going to achieve greater savings than the Force Provider system, it’s got some work to do. The Force Provider “Temper Tents” look somewhat like conventional tents in that their walls are made of flexible material, but the design integrates air-filled supporting “beams” and other technological advances.
Force Provider was originally developed in response to lessons learned during Desert Storm in 1991. The goal was to design portable shelters that could be set up quickly while providing Soldiers with climate control and other basic physical comforts that help maintain force effectiveness and improve overall well-being.

All things being equal, though, the rigid-walled system still has a couple of other advantages.
