One of the reasons I wanted the Multistrada is the ride modes; Urban, Touring, and Sport. A progression of aggression achieved with a couple button presses on the left-hand switch group – one that lets me electronically dial in suspension, traction control, peak engine output and ABS as my riding recovery progresses. The latter, ABS sensitivity, is new to the 2013 Multistrada 1200 S, and a welcome addition. Previously we’d found that the lack of ABS deactivation a hindrance to Enduro mode antics. Not that I’ll likely be partaking in any dirt road riding for a while, there is still considerable discomfort over major bumps.
Three kilometers in and a few corners having scrubbed the worst of the slick from the tires, and I’m feeling considerably more confident. Urban mode softens to settings to merely stomping an Audi S5 into the dust off the line. A couple days of Urban Assault mode with the 2013 Multistrada 1200 S, and it’s clear the bike has left me confident enough to step up the game to Touring. Plan for Barrow wind turbine comes under scrutiny

The potential impact in energy and cost savings, as well as pollution reduction, is significant — though toxic materials are used in manufacturing both fluorescents and LEDs.
Lights suck up more than 15 per cent of all energy produced globally, and fluorescent lights currently make up more than half of the total lighting market.
In the United States alone, fluorescents consume about 200 terawatts annually, according to Philips’ estimates.
Cutting that in half would save $12 billion in electricity costs and lessen carbon dioxide emissions by 60 million metric tons per year, the company said.
Dr. Eugenia Ellis, a professor of engineering and architecture at Drexel University, who works with LED installations, said an efficiency improvement at the level Philips forecasts would be impressive.
Cost savings from using LEDs can already be significant: Ellis gave the example of a hospital recently saving $75,000 a year on energy bills by switching.
In recent years, energy-efficient lights made by Philips,First Wind is an independent North American powergenerators exclusively focused on the development, Siemens AG, General Electric Co., Cree Inc. and others using LEDs, or light-emitting diodes, have made significant inroads in the home market, replacing many incandescent and halogen bulbs.

"This means everything," said Connor Millay, 19, a Northern Kentucky University student who traveled toLouisville despite facing two tests Tuesday.

Elsewhere around town, Cardinals faithful partied in dormitories and around campus, in bars and restaurants and in living rooms after Louisville claimed its third national championship.
Most chose the quiet comforts of home over the noisy crowds that assembled in the Fourth Street Live! entertainment district. But when Louisville emerged victorious at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, emotions were felt everywhere.
"We've been waiting for this for the past 27 years," said Joe Barnes, 61, a University of Louisville alumnus who walked among the thousands of students on Cardinal Boulevard. "This has been one of the best teams that U of L has had. Ever. They've showed more spirit, more hustle. They believe in each other."
Standing ready were a combination of Louisville and campus police and sheriff's deputies, prepared for large crowds and celebrations that have been commonplace since the Cardinals reached the Final Four and then beat Wichita State in Saturday night's semifinal.
University spokesman John Drees said more than 5,000 people were estimated to be packed onto Cardinal Boulevard.
"Everybody's happy," he said. "Everybody's celebrating."
He said police arrested 10 people on charges of drunken and disorderly conduct. Several were injured, two on falls and one with a cut foot.
However, things got out of hand around Cardinal Boulevard and Third Street as the celebration was winding down.
Riot police were called in after an officer was attacked. Students quickly fled the area but several scuffles ensued and bottles were thrown, forcing police to use tear gas. The armored carrier was brought in and order was restored before 2:30 a.m.
